Loranocarter+Beijing is a photography partnership between two artists, Loran Carter and Beijing-based photographer, Ying Chan. The two met in 2013 and have been working together ever since. They have exhibited their work in both the United States and China and are dedicated to creating photographic artwork that celebrates the beauty of both their cultures.

In 2014, American photographer Loran Carter teamed up with Beijing-based photographer Nate Matos to create a photo project called “Loranocarter+Beijing: A Photography Partnership.” The two photographers met while Carter was living in Beijing and working as a freelance photographer. They quickly became friends and began collaborating on various photography projects.
The “Loranocarter+Beijing” project was born out of their shared love of photography and their desire to document the rapidly changing city of Beijing. Over the course of two years, they photographed Beijing’s streets, neighborhoods, and landmarks, capturing the city’s energy and vibrancy.
The project culminated in a joint exhibition of their photographs, which was held in Beijing in 2016. The exhibition was a great success, and the photographs received rave reviews from both the local and international community.

4. A Unique Perspective
Loren Carter and Beijing-based photographer Xi Wang have been working together since 2012, when they met while both were studying at the Beijing Film Academy. The two have been collaborating on a variety of photography projects ever since, including a series on the city of Beijing and its people.
Their most recent project is a series of photos titled “4 A Unique Perspective,” which captures Beijing from a variety of unique angles. The series was shot over the course of four days, and features a variety of subjects, including a bird’s-eye view of the city, a close-up of a traditional Chinese painting, and a street scene captured through a car’s windshield.

Beijing-based photographer Carter Lorenz and I have been working together since early 2015. We met while I was living in China and he was visiting from the States. We bonded over our shared love of photography and China, and have been collaborating ever since.
Our work together has been featured in a number of publications, including The Washington Post, The Atlantic, and TIME. We’ve also been fortunate enough to exhibit our work in both China and the United States.
I think what makes our partnership so strong is our mutual respect for each other’s work. We both understand and appreciate the unique perspective that the other brings to our projects.
We also share a passion for documenting the rapidly changing landscape of China. As the country continues to develop at an unprecedented rate, we feel it’s important to document this transformation for future generations.
